Update to hit water main
March 16, 2026
The large water main line that was hit was repaired within an hour this morning and put back in service. Some noticed discoloration in their water after this main being hit. This was caused by the faster flow of water through the lines to this line break that then can stir up any minerals or small particles that remain in the treated water received by NTMWD and that have settled out of the water in normal reduced flow type conditions over time. This will cause the discoloration and is a common type occurrence and not harmful. You can run a faucet until clear in your home briefly if needed to clear and hydrants have been flushed as well. There was no danger nor need for any testing for this type of repair. The line was isolated within minutes and caused only a very brief issue to some. As always we will always continue to inform our members and follow correct measures and guidelines. We apologize for the inconvenience but with all the contractor work in the area things like this will happen and out of RCH control even with all precautions.
