Only Sonoma Verde Zone 3 is allowed to use lawn irrigation Tonight from 8pm to Midnight ONLY
August 17, 2026
We will attempt to resume schedule with Zone 3 only (Sonoma Verde) irrigation for lawns tonight MONDAY 8/17/26
-Do not exceed past Midnight and allow the system to refill for the following day
-Do not water if you are not Zone 3 (Sonoma Verde) or you will be shut off at meter and fined.
-Do not irrigate lawn at anytime after midnight including early morning hours. We have seen every morning from 2am - 8am the high flow usage that keeps system from going back to needed levels.
-If it happens that we monitor out on the system tonight or view on SCADA high flow usage (Lawn Irrigation) after midnight on the system we automatically go to Stage 3 tomorrow and minimum 24 ban to refill. We must and will protect the system as necesssary.
Legal and Operational Authority
. Emergency & System Protection: Under Texas rules and local utility tariffs/drought
contingency plans, water providers have the authority to temporarily interrupt service or
isolate specific high-demand components (like automatic landscape irrigation) if main
line pressure drops, line breaks occur, or the distribution network is being
drained. CeCode360 +1
· Cross-Connection and Contamination Risks: If a water system or a section of a
neighborhood line is draining (due to a main break, repair, or low pressure), it creates a
dangerous backflow risk. Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)
regulations strictly prohibit cross-connections that could pull contaminated water from
private irrigation systems back into the public potable water supply. @
. Drought and Conservation Stages: Under mandatory drought response stages (such as
Stage 3 or Stage 4 restrictions), utilities and cities explicitly reserve the right to turn off,
lock, or restrict automated irrigation meters entirely to preserve water for essential
human needs.
What You Should Know
· Notice Requirements: While routine or non-emergency disconnections (such as for
billing issues) require proper advance written notice under Public Utility Commission of
Texas regulations, emergency shutdowns or actions taken to address active system
drains, main breaks, or contamination threats do not require prior
notice.
-Please follow guidelines and work with everyone to keep system safe and allow us to focus on bringing the new take point and pump station online at end of month with the availability of 9 million gallons a day with added pressure across system.
