Exciting Milestone in the North Texas Take Point Construction Project!
November 26, 2024
Dear Members,
I am thrilled to announce a significant milestone in the progress of our NTMWD Direct Connection Project. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has conditionally approved the design specifications and construction plans of our proposed 3.0-million-gallon ground storage tank in Kaufman County, marking a major step forward in enhancing our water infrastructure and ensuring long-term reliability for the RCH community.
Key Highlights of the Approval:
Project Scope:
- A 3.0-million-gallon pre-stressed concrete ground storage tank built to meet the rigorous standards of the American Water Works Association (AWWA).
- Associated yard piping, valves, fittings, and additional components to support the system.
Updated Specifications:
The TCEQ initially requested two adjustments to the project plans:
- Incorporating a 16-mesh screen for the roof vent design to prevent contamination and ensure durability.
- Including a liquid level indicator, such as a pressure gauge, to monitor water levels effectively on-site.
I’m happy to report that our engineering team has made these updates, ensuring full compliance with TCEQ’s guidelines and accelerating the approval process.
Take Point Location:
The new tank will be constructed at our NTMWD Take Point and Pump Station property in Kaufman County.
What’s Next:
With these updates in place, we are ready to proceed with construction. Our appointed engineers will notify the TCEQ Region 4 Office as soon as construction begins. Upon completion, we will confirm that the project adheres to the approved plans and submit all necessary documentation for final approval.
Phase 1 will focus on site preparation, including grading, road access, and foundational civil work. This phase has begun and is laying the groundwork for the installation of the storage tank.
This tank will play a vital role in meeting the growing water demands of the RCH community and reinforcing our system’s capacity for future growth and emergency preparedness.
We are well on our way! We look forward to increasing our community’s water supply in the near future, providing greater reliability and resilience for all of our members.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we achieve this exciting milestone together.
Warm regards,
Robin Mayall
